Life has a way of forcing us to deal with situations that we prefer to never face. I am traveling one of those roads today.

I lost a dear friend this morning. Chad went home to be with his Father. Our loss is now Chad's gain.

Please pray for Renee, his two sons, and all those connected to him. He will be deeply missed for one reason--the way he lived his life. He changed the world. He changed my world.

I am grieving with Chad's family, even as I am completely confident of the joy Chad is currently experiencing as he slips from the temporal nature of the miry clay of this world into the eternal bliss of his Father’s house. I hurt for Renee and the boys, for Chad’s parents who lost their only son, and for the multitude of others who were graced to know Chad and to be influenced in some fashion by his ministry. The world has lost a great treasure, even as Chad has departed to receive his Treasure. I pray for an extra measure of grace for all of those who must now bear that loss, and I pray that there might still be some redeeming portion to be rescued from this tragedy. I believe it was Phil Canipe who once told me that life is full of choices, and that we choose in times like these to be bitter or better. I hurt with all of those who must now make that choice. It all has happened too quickly, Chad’s flame was extinguished prematurely, but his impact was more significant than many lifetimes. None of us who were touched by him were left the same, and we thank God for the years we had, even as we wish that we could have had more.
